Don't Tread

Design A436

This personalized design was inspired by the Gadsden flag, designed in 1775 by General Christopher Gadsden during the American Revolution.

An anonymous letter written to the Pennsylvania Journal in 1775, suggested that the rattlesnake might be chosen as a symbol for America, noting they are found only in the Americas, and further musing, "She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds 'till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her."

Many scholars agree this “American Guesser” was Benjamin Franklin. The US Marines and US Navy still use the Gadsden flag today.

All the items I bought, tins and hats were well made and the customer service was excellent. They called me to asked me about the spelling of one of my items I ordered because I inadvertently put an apostrophe that didn’t need to be there. I really appreciating them catching my error. I would definitely order again! Published 2 years ago by Karen Maze (Granada Hill, Ca )
